Launch a Digital Business for FREE with Jason Shurgot

The Skill: How to take the first seven steps in launching a digital business for free.
Importance of Skill: The first steps, although not a lot of work, are often the hardest and most confusing steps to accomplish, but they set the foundation for the success of your business.
The Lesson: Keeping Momentum and Focus during Business Start-Up
Step 1: Purchase a domain name – Recommendation: a .com or ,org.
Step 2: Create a google apps @work email account – First 30 days are free, then as low as $5 per month.
Step 3: Create a business landing page (website) – Recommendation: wix.com because it is free (as long as you do not mind advertisements), and also because this is the website platform with which Jason is most experienced. (Feel free to contact Jason if you are in need of coaching during this process.)
Step 4: Lock down your social media handles – Recommendation: Grab every single social media platform, and try to keep the name consistent across all platforms and 15 characters of less.
Step 5: Create calls to action on your landing page (website) to collect customer information – Recommendation: Offer something for free in exchange for an email address.
Special note: You do not have to have the landing page as your purchased domain name to be effective in the beginning. If you can afford a few hundred dollars, I highly recommend that you do use your domain name, but it is not required to launch your digital business.
Step 6: Celebrate the accomplishment of completing the first 5 steps. Reward yourself with something – you deserve to celebrate!
Step 7: “Focus on progress, not perfection, as you move your business forward.”

To create a digital business…
Envision: Set the desired destination and then create milestone achievements that help you get to the destination. Celebrate each time you reach a milestone.
Note: It took Jason over ten years to get a following of over 150,000 on @millionairenotes on Instagram, and he figures it will take four more years to get to his next goal.
Explore: “Start researching competitors, mentors, websites, products, webinars, free gifts, anything related to your business and where you want to be in the future. Take extra time to take notes about what you like/dislike about what you see. Keep the likes as part of your business vision and have the dislikes in mind as well so that you do not let them creep into your business.
One of my personal dislikes is how online gurus always make it sound so easy to reach their success and all you need to do is buy their ‘fill in the amount’ course.”

3) Get yourself in the room! Whether that is the library, YouTube, Google searches, an internship, taking a job that will give you the skills you need tomorrow, listening to podcasts, attending seminars, reading books. But overall, Learn, learn, learn, learn, and DO so that you can EARN your worth.
Advice to Listeners: “Believe in yourself, only take actions worth taking, find a mastermind group and sign up, it’s only a waste of time if you don’t learn from it. And select the right mentor/coach for your current needs. To use mathematics as an example, if you are struggling with learning addition/subtraction, don’t enlist the help or pay for a calculus tutor. Instead, find someone who has already mastered addition/subtraction and is working on learning multiplication/division. Why? One, because they remember vividly the struggles you are going through because it wasn’t long ago that they had the same struggles, so they can relate. Two, they will cost much less than a calculus tutor.”
